Software Update Instructions
Compatible with:
· The Build Version should be 2023-07-24 or newer.
· The BG IO Version and SSR IO Version should both be 0.54.
Materials required:
· USB drive (aka USB stick, thumb drive, jump drive, flash drive, etc.)
o Drive must use a FAT32 file system.
o Volume Label (aka drive name) must not have any spaces in it.
o See instructions at the end of this document if you need help with file system or drive name compatibility issues.
· Computer with internet connection and USB port for USB drive above.
· ES1.
Time required:
· This update should take less than 10 minutes start to finish.
Performing the update:
1. At computer:
a. Download the necessary update file(s) from the link at the top of this article.
b. Copy the first update file onto the jump drive:
i. The update must be in the root directory (not in a folder or sub-directory)
ii. The update must be the ONLY file with a “.tgz” file extension in the root directory (it’s ok to have other “.tgz” files on the drive, as long as they are in other folders/directories, not in the root directory.)
2. At ES1:
a. Make sure the ES1 is plugged in, turned on, and sitting idle on the home screen (the “Safe Mode” version of the home screen is fine too.)
b. Insert the USB drive into the port on the back of the machine (just below the power cord and power switch.)
i. ES1 should start reading the drive and validating update files within a few seconds (LED on drive will start blinking.)
ii. Depending on the update type, it may take up 3 minutes or so for the ES1 to respond with update options on screen.
c. If the ES1 finds valid update files, and they don’t match the UI version already installed, it will offer to apply the update(s.) Press “Apply Now” button on screen.
d. Wait for updates to complete.
i. It should only take a few minutes to complete updates, and the ES1 will reboot at least once while updating.
ii. When it’s totally done updating, you will see either the home screen or an onboarding screen with a welcome message.
e. After update is complete, remove the USB drive.
